Christian Online Dating: How To Build Your Profile

When building your Christian online dating portfolio, remember that looks aren't everything. But that doesn't mean you can't try to look your best. There's absolutely nothing wrong with giving nature a little boost, or "putting a fresh coat of paint on the barn" as my father-in-law says.

Some Christian singles subscribe to the philosophy of, "this is me, whether you like it or not it's your problem." Fact is, such statements are just a manifestation of their own insecurity.

We all have a certain degree of insecurity, some more than others. And it's this insecurity that makes us sound gruff and uncaring when it comes to improving our appearances.

I once worked alongside a woman like this. She was one of the most bitter, spiteful people I have ever met. And I believe without a shadow of a doubt that it stemmed from a deep sense of insecurity.

What are you so afraid of? Here's a little insight: Whatever you're afraid of, others are afraid of the same thing. So you're not alone!

So how do you best present yourself? This is an area that requires a substantial amount of effort, but surprisingly, it's an area which people tend to neglect the most.

Many single Christians have a laid back attitude when it comes to painting a picture of themselves. But you don't have to worry.

Why? Because A Picture Says a Thousand Words!

Some people have qualms about including a picture in the profile. My advice is to post it from the very beginning. Besides confirming what the profile says, photos make you look more confident in yourself.

If you're still uncomfortable, one option would be to send a photo only after you're comfortable chatting with someone and are convinced they don't have any devious intentions.

But it must be a mutual exchange. It would be unfair if you knew what they looked like while keeping them in the dark on your end or vice versa.

Now, if you are sending over a picture of yourself, PLEASE send over a decent one. Think this is silly to even mention? Just take a look at the pics on any Christian dating site. Poor quality, bad lighting, sober faces-they're everywhere!

Make your photo a recent one and don't scrimp on quality. Your best bet is to invest a little money and get a professional quality photo taken. With the digital photography of today, they can do a very impressive job.

Before your session, work on your expression. Stand in front of a mirror and try out various ones till you find something that is best for you. And you must be smiling! The classic hang dog expression or the "my-pet-fish-just-died" look will get you nowhere. Smile-it costs you nothing and it really lights up your face.
